Malaysia My Second Home Program (MM2H)

Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Program is promoted by the Malaysian Government that offers a renewable 5 year, 10-year, 15 year, or 20 year multiple-entry Social Visit Pass for qualified applicants who wish to live in Malaysia or spend extended periods in the country. Upon expiry, the visa is renewable in 5-year increments. The program is open to citizens of countries recognized by Malaysia, regardless of race, religion, gender, or age.

The visa duration depends on the selected category: Silver, Gold, Platinum, or the Economic and Financial Special Zone group. The Silver category grants a 5-year visa, the Gold category a 15-year visa, and the Platinum category a 20-year visa. Applicants under the Economic and Financial Special Zone group receive a 10-year visa, which is renewable for life. One application covers the entire family. Applicants are allowed to bring their spouses, unmarried children under 21 years old (including stepchildren and adopted children), and their parents or parents-in-law as dependents. Children aged 21 to 34 who are unmarried and not working in Malaysia may also be included. Foreign domestic helpers are allowed for Platinum participants only. Those in the Platinum category may also invest, start a business, pursue studies, and enjoy retirement life in Malaysia.

Applicants aged 25 and above (or 21 and above for the Economic and Financial Special Zones) are eligible to apply. There are no language requirements, interviews, or need to show proof of the source of funds. MM2H visa holders may freely enter and exit Malaysia at any time. According to the updated regulations in June 2024, visa holders must stay a minimum of 90 days per year in Malaysia and are required to purchase a property in the country, with the minimum value depending on the category.

Since its inception, MM2H has attracted many foreign participants due to its relatively low entry threshold, straightforward process, and appealing benefits. The program has opened new channels for Malaysia’s development and foreign investment, becoming a unique part of the country’s tourism and lifestyle landscape.

MM2H holders do not need to change their nationality or report their relocation to their home country. They may apply for visas to other countries directly from within Malaysia, saving time and improving approval chances. Platinum participants are also eligible to invest in Malaysia.

Children under 21 years old may pursue education in Malaysia without the need to apply for a student visa each year. In addition, Platinum participants may apply to bring a foreign domestic helper into the country.

MM2H holders and their family members are required to purchase medical insurance, which covers hospitalization and other medical expenses throughout their stay in Malaysia.
